Chicago International Amphitheatre 1981
One of the early bootlegs featuring new drummer Rick Downey. He'd only been in the band a couple of months since the firing of Albert Bouchard. And he does an admirable job. To be truthful I really enjoyed this era of the band, and whilst many people moan that Albert left I think personally that the live shows with Rick in 1981 and 1982 were fantastic. His much heavier style of drumming really suited the setlist they doing at the time.
This was recorded for the Loop in the US.
The artwork pictured below uses the ETL cover to full effect. The show itself is a brilliant one and the band are really loose and it works well. 'Roadhouse blues' features Robbie Kreiger but the version isn't as good as the Resada,California one recorded 2 months later also with Robbie which was used for ETL.
Strong setlist again and a great intro of 'Godzilla' as well.
Sound Quality isn't quite there with a nasty hiss over the proceedings taking it away from what would have been an immense radio show, nevertheless it comes recommended.
